Gallery Talk with Fotofilmic’s Bastien Desfriches Doria and Virginie Lamarche begins at 6 p.m. followed by a reception until 8 p.m. The New Face of Film curated by FotoFilmic assembles 20 photographers to present a unique worldview of contemporary photography’s material practices. The exhibition’s underlying vision frames a defining moment and transitionary occupation of film-based photography and its rich lineage of physical craft and recording methods in the context of today’s global digital culture. Boise Open Studios (BOSCO) is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to fostering greater understanding of the creative process between artists and the general public. 6 p.m. Student Union Building, Jordan Ballroom. One Sky, an international awareness group, presents ‘Maestra,’ a short documentary about the 1961 Cuban literacy campaign. The 33-minute film will be followed by a panel discussion, along with a book drive collection and opportunities for the audience to sign up as a literacy volunteer. This event is free and open to the public.
