“Hang onto your underpants!”
Here’s your chance to meet Dav Pilkey, children’s author and illustrator and creator of the popular Captain Underpants series. Because he’s so popular, we’re hosting him at the Egyptian Theatre.
- Live drawing and prizes
- Photo-ops with Captain Underpants and Dog Man.
- Book signing (Books will be available for purchase from Rediscovered Books at the event.)
Tickets are free, but you must have a ticket to attend. Starting September 6, you may pick up a ticket from one of the four Boise Public Library locations or Rediscovered Books, or reserve yours online, starting September 6.
Pilkey began writing and creating comics when he was still in elementary school. His Captain Underpants series has more than 70 million copies in print worldwide and has been translated into more than 25 languages. DreamWorks is planning to release a feature film adaptation of Captain Underpants in 2017.
Pilkey’s twelfth Captain Underpants book, Captain Underpants and the Sensational Saga of Sir Stinks-a-Lot, was released in 2015. A spinoff graphic novel, Dog Man, will be released in September. Pilkey is also the creator of the Caldecott Honor Book The Paperboy, the California Young Reader Medal-winning Dog Breath, and the Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot series, which is illustrated by Dan Santat.

Office hours for programmers – all skill levels; from beginner to professional, any language. The format is super simple: you come with your laptop (or check one out from the library), a goal, sit, hang out and code. Feel free to flag down one of the organizers if you have a question. That’s it! If we can’t answer your question, we’ll find you someone who can, or at least point you in the right direction. Note that this is a meetup for people learning to code. Experienced developers are needed too, – we appreciate the help!
