In honor of the Shakespeare’s First Folio exhibit, we’re showing vintage Shakespeare films in August and September.
Like most of Shakespeare’s comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream contains several seemingly unrelated plot lines, all tied together by a single unifying event, in this instance the impending wedding of Theseus and Hippolyta.
One thread concerns the mistaken-identity romances of four young Athenians; another involves a group of “rude mechanicals” who plan to stage a production of “Pyramus and Thisbe” in honor of the wedding; and a third plot strand is motivated by the mischievous misbehavior of invisible fairies Oberon, Titania, and Puck. …

SHAKESPEARE’S FIRST FOLIO

In celebration of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s 1616 death, the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. has arranged the ultimate book tour. First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare is stopping in each state for a limited time.
Without the Folio, we would very likely have only half of Shakespeare’s works—it contains 36 plays and one of only two likenesses of Shakespeare considered “authentic. “ Shakespeare’s First Folio will be in Boise August 20-September 21, hosted by Boise State University.

Christie Stoll, Executive Director for IDeal and Nick Thiros, IDeal Field Representative will speak about Idaho’s Section 529 Plan established by the state in 2000 which is designed to help individuals and families save for college in a tax-advantaged way. Research from Washington University in St. Louis http://csd.wustl.edu/Publications/Documents/WP10.01.pdf shows that students who have a college savings account are seven times more likely to enroll and complete a form of higher education regardless of amount saved.
This session will focus on the importance of saving for higher education from an early age and:

This fun storytime for children aged 3-5 is also a workshop for parents to learn ways to help their children develop early literacy and math skills that will help them be sucessful in Kindergarten and beyond.
This series of storytimes runs on an 8-week cycle and focuses on a different skill each week. No registration is required–if you miss a week, feel free to drop in during the next cycle of classes, and come as often as you like.
